Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge on a topic, or about bringing the community together in a fun and creative way? Every member is offered the opportunity to host sessions throughout Limicon.

Privacy
Please familiarize yourself with the privacy levels to ensure you register your event under the one that best suits your session.

No Recording: This session will be viewed only by live participants.

Recorded and shared with session participants only: You may record your session and email the recording to those that attended the session, reminding session participants that the recording is not to be shared with anyone else. You may not share the recording with anyone that did not attend your session.

Recorded and shared with Limicon 2026 members: You may record your session, email the recording to those that attended the session, and share with the Limicon organizers. We will add your recording to the Limicon 2026 YouTube Playlist. You may not share the recording with anyone outside of Limicon 2026.

Recorded and shared publicly: You may record your session and share as you please with the public.
*The default privacy level for Limicon is shared with Limicon 2026 members.
*Please be mindful that, in some cases, privacy level may influence the quality of your session. In sessions with more personal content, people may be less inclined to fully participate/share if the session will be publicly available.

Tips for Session Hosts
Make it Accessible...in every sense of the word
Topic
- Narrow down your topic enough to maintain focus, while leaving room to hold space for participants.
Length
- Select a session length that allows for both sufficient coverage of the topic and meaningful discussion.
Engagement
- Slideshows: <10 words per line, <10 lines per slide, <10 slides per presentation
- Shared Documents (Google Docs, Miro, MURAL, etc.): Pre-populate with a general outline or guide.
- Consider using chat, polls, screen sharing, and other interactive tools.
- Be playful! Use memes, music, stories, and activities to raise spirits and build connection.
Accessibility Features
- Auto-Generated Captions: Turn on Auto-Generated Captions for those who may require or benefit from screen reading.
Sharing
- Share any relevant content and/or resources with session participants directly.
- Consider recording your session if appropriate.
- Submit your content and recordings to share with Limicon Members.
Etiquette
Preparation
- Links & Materials: Have any links or information you plan to share in the chat ready to copy/paste.
- Arrive Early: Arrive 10 minutes early to ensure technology is working smoothly and you have time to address any issues.
Orientation
- Greeting: Greet your participants as they arrive; small talk can help break the ice.
- Privacy Reminder: Remind participants of the session’s privacy level: public, Limicon members, session participants only, or unrecorded.
- AI Disclosure: Notify participants of any AI note-takers.
Framing
- Expectations: Set your expectations: camera use; muting when not speaking; use of chat, emojis, and hand-raising features, etc.
- Session Outline: Provide a general outline of the session.
- Questions & Discussion: Specify when questions and discussions should take place: openly or when prompted at the end.
Connection
- Introductions: Introduce yourself, use the chat to ask where people are from.
- Grounding Exercise: Begin with a breathing or grounding exercise.
Closure
- Key Takeaways: Summarize key takeaways, or have participants share one takeaway each.
- Gratitude: Express gratitude for participants attending your session.
Addressing Tensions
Minor Disruptions
- Background Noise: If there is disruptive background noise, first ask participants to mute themselves, then offer to mute for them if needed.
- Staying on Track: If the session goes too far off track, remind the group you want to respect everyone’s time and deliver the planned content.
- Flexibility: Be flexible. Let go of the ego’s attachment to rigid plans and control to leave space for new ideas and energy to emerge.
Diffusing Escalation
- Validation: Validate all participants’ feelings in a positive way, i.e. “I can see you are very passionate about...”
- Non-Judgment: Stay grounded in non-judgmental observation.
- Respectful Disagreement: Without singling anyone out, remind participants that respectful disagreements are opportunities to understand, learn, and grow.
- Empathetic Listening: Guide conversation away from judgment or blame and toward empathetic listening and understanding.
- Clear Boundaries: Give a clear boundary that disrespect of others will not be tolerated in your session or at Limicon.

SESSION
TYPES
Speaker/Presentation
Participants will watch a prepared presentation by one or more speakers. Participants may be asked to share information in the chat, or ask questions, but for the most part will be watching a presentation.
Dialog/Inquiry
Participants will engage around a topic presented by the hosts. They will have an opportunity to share their own perspectives, and hear perspectives from other participants.
Collaborating/Building
Participants will work together on an activity with a shared goal.
Limicon Meta
This category is reserved for sessions which help develop limicon, either in the form of planning or digesting information generated.
Practice/Ritual
Participants will be guided through an experience which may include some initial setup or presentation. Participants will spend most of the time engaging with an activity, either in their own physical space, together in the virtual space, or in breakout rooms.
Connecting/Relating
Participants will spend time being guided in experiences that result in meeting others or getting to know other participants.
Fun!
A broad category to catch any events intended to by playful or primarily entertaining for participants.
In-Person
Any events occurring “in real life” in physical spaces specifically for Limicon attendees.
